Thames Gateway NHS Trust - The Admiral Nurse Service

Carers’ Support Groups and Surgeries

The purpose of the surgeries is to support family carers for whom the person cared for is in residential care or is about to go into care. It is also available for those family carers who are still caring for the person at home but find talking about their role in the presence of the person they care for difficult. It is an opportunity for family carers to speak openly and in confidence to a professional who understands their situation. Some  family carers may have had an Admiral Nurse visiting at home and upon discharge from case load may be advised to attend a drop in surgery as a way of maintaining contact with the service as well as continuing to receive ongoing practical and emotional support.

The Maidstone Medway and Swale Admiral Nurse Service.

The Maidstone Medway and Swale Admiral Nurse service is provided by the West Kent NHS and Social Care Trust.
Admiral nurses visit carers at home and run drop in surgeries for carers and support groups.
They work across different agencies (health, social and the voluntary sector), providing dementia training, education and consultation.
