Creative Writing Workshop 8th June 2009

Carers week saw carers putting pen to paper in a brilliant display of creative writing. Five aduCreative Writing (4KB)lt and  three young carers came together in our first pilot creative writing workshop. It was Creative Writing (4KB)amazing to see the creative ideas flowing and the concentration on the faces of our carers showed how much they were enjoying tapping into their creativity.  The event was such a success and funding allowing, I cannot wait for our course of workshops. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the carers who took part and also hope that you too will enjoy reading these marvellous pieces

Evaluation of pilot creative writing workshop held 8th June 2009

As part of the Carers week Medway Carers Centre organized a pilot creative writing workshop, held on 8th June 2009.  Five adult carers and three young carers attended the pilot workshop which was led by creative writing tutor Angela Asieba. Overall the eight carers provided a positive feedback, found the session constructive and have welcome the opportunity to attend similar workshops in the future. Creative Writing (4KB)

Carers highlighted that they joined the workshop not only to learn, improve and have confidence in their writing skills as well meeting new people but also to get a break from their caring role. According to one carer it was a positive break, one ‘where caring was the secondary conversation’.  It was encouraging to read that some of the young carers are able to transfers some of the skills they gained from the session to their school work. It is possible to view the creative writing pieces on the Carers Centre website at www.medwaycarerscentre.org.uk

The Carers Centre is looking for funding for future workshop and hope to make this activity available to more carers. In the meantime if you have any comments or suggestions please e-mail your responses to kdmedwaycarers@aol.co.uk or call Krishna at the Centre on 01634 577340

Please find below the feedback from the creative writing workshop evaluation questionnaires.
